Bracebridge council adopted a resolution on Wednesday night supporting continued delivery of hospital services at both the South Muskoka Memorial Hospital in Bracebridge and the Huntsville District Memorial Hospital.
In May, the Board of Muskoka Algonquin Healthcare (MAHC) endorsed the concept of one centrally-located acute care hospital as the model for long-term hospital services forMuskoka.
The decision would involve closing the two hospitalsand building a new facility at a new site. MAHC will now be making revisions to its submission and will present it to the North Simcoe Muskoka LHIN.
In a releaseissued by the Town of Bracebridge on Thursday, the town states, “Mayor Smith and members of Bracebridge Council voiced the concern that the option selected by MAHC is contrary to the preferred model strongly advocated by both the Town of Bracebridge and the Town of Huntsville.”
On Monday, Huntsville council passed a resolution to circulate a petition that will be presented to the Legislative Assembly of Ontario on the importance of continuing care at both hospitals in Muskoka.
The two towns are asking residents to sign a petition that will be presented to Queens Park on the importance of continuing care at both hospitals.
The petition will be available fr Huntsville residents to sign from June 26th until September 8th at Huntsville Town Hall, the Canada Summit Centre and the Huntsville Public Library.
