A driver from New Lowell accused of speeding nearly double the posted limit on his way to work over the weekend has lost his licence for a month.

Provincial police say the motorist was caught travelling 116 kilometres per hour in a posted 60 km/h zone in the Township of Adjala-Tosorontio.

“Was he late for his shift or just auditioning for Fast & Furious: Simcoe County Drift?” OPP stated in a post about the incident on social media.

“Either way, the only thing stunting now is his commute,” the service continued.

The offence landed the motorist a stunt driving charge, which carries a 30-day licence suspension and 14-day vehicle impoundment.

"On the bright side, he’s got plenty of time to practice walking to work,” OPP added, finishing, “Moral of the story: Speeding to work doesn’t impress your boss, but it will get you a starring role in traffic court.”
