Residents in a Barrie neighbourhood are on edge after a late night shooting sent one man to hospital.
Just before 10:30 Friday night Barrie police were called to Sanford Street, near the city’s downtown.
“Ten or fifteen cop cars… went down the back,” said a local resident Russ Reynolds. “They came with dogs. They were all in my backyard.”
Police say two men were inside a home on the street, when four others arrived at the residence. A fight broke out and a 44 year-old Barrie man was shot in the arm.
He was taken to Royal Victoria Regional Health centre, but his injuries are not life threatening.
The four suspects fled the scene following the shooting.
“We have two small kids,” says a mother who lives nearby. “That's something obviously you're going to have to worry about now,” she says.
Investigators believe the altercation was drug related. The suspects have not been found and police are trying to identify them.
Police believe this was a targeted attack, and there is no concern for public safety.
Anyone with any information is asked to contact Barrie police.
