It was a battle of the best in senior boy's football action Wednesday night in Barrie. Two undefeated teams clashing in the finals for the second straight year and for the second straight year Bear Creek came out victorious.

The Kodiaks beat the St. Joan of Arc Knights 16-6 in the championship game.

After a successful onside kick to start the game the St. Joan of Arc Knights got on the board first after this first quarter field goal.

Later in the first half the Bear Creek Kodiaks got on the board after a beauty run by Justin Cunningham. It was one of two touchdowns for the star player.

“It was a great start we came up strong got a couple of touchdowns our defence pulled up clutch and we won the game” says Cunningham.

Daniel Reilly had two field goals in the win for Bear Creek. Both players are in their last year of high school football.

“It’s fun, the crowd fires us up it’s really good when they get into it and stuff. It’s something to really play for” says Reilly.

The coaches on both teams say the players should be proud of their season long achievement win or lose.

“We had adversity this year we didn’t even have a field to practise on and these guys have been practising on the ball diamond all year so to be able to put it all together and take it on to OFSSA it’s a great experience for these boys” says Bear Creek head coach Keith Jackson.

"We talked all year about the preparation and the dedication and coming in day in and day out you know that was our last thoughts leaving the change room today it was about people, preparation and emotion and I think both teams showed that today," says Paul Harrington Knights head coach.

With the win Bear Creek will now advance to the OFSSA championships set for later this month in Windsor.

Several hundred students and family members took in the game at Jamie Massey field at Georgian College.
