A legal representative for Toronto Raptor Jonas Valanciunas was in Collingwood court today on behalf of the player ahead of a judicial pretrial set for next month.
“We’re just appearing on behalf of him today in court, that’s all I have to say,” the legal rep told CTV News outside the courthouse.
Valanciunas was charged on April 7 with impaired driving after he was allegedly spotted going through a Wasaga Beach drive through with open alcohol in his car. Police say he later failed a sobriety test. In a statement Valanciunas apologized to his team, his family, and the fans.
His legal representative still wouldn’t comment on the specifics of the case or whether it’s causing any distractions on the court.
The case is set to go to a judicial pre-trial June 9 in Collingwood.
