The Toronto Raptors will be back in playoff action tonight facing what is almost a must-win Game 2 against the Brooklyn Nets.
The day the Raptors hit the court for that crucial game of their opening round playoff series against the Nets, a legal representative for Jonas Valanciunas was in Collingwood making a first appearance on behalf the 21-year-old seven-foot centre, who is facing a charge of impaired driving.
Valanciunas was charged on April 7 with impaired driving after he was allegedly spotted going through a Wasaga Beach drive through with open alcohol in his car. Police say he later failed a sobriety test. In a statement Valanciunas apologized to his team, his family, and the fans.
His legal representative wouldn’t comment on the specifics of the case or whether it’s causing any distractions on the court.
The case has been put over to May 27.
Meanwhile, the Raptors are trying to even things up tonight at the ACC.
Tip-off is at 7:30 p.m.
Valanciunas is expected to suit up for Toronto.
