A truck driver was charged after crashing their tractor-trailer on Highway 11 south of Orillia Saturday evening, which led to the temporary closure of all southbound lanes for several kilometres.

In a social media post Saturday evening, OPP stated that all southbound lanes were closed from Line 11 to Line 15 as crews were working to remove a tractor-trailer.
An OPP spokesperson told CTV News that the driver had not been driving to the conditions and lost control, jackknifing and blocking both southbound lanes.

The tractor-trailer reportedly became stuck in the ditch and officers had to wait for heavy tow trucks to attend and assist with removing it.

Police confirm that no other vehicles were involved, and that the driver was charged with careless driving under the Highway Traffic Act.

The area reopened early Sunday morning.
