In the spirit of "Movember", there is now a special month devoted to a great Canadian hairstyle and a great cause.

The March Mullet Program has kicked off and throughout the month participants are growing their finest mullet. The program aims to raise money and awareness for the Canadian Mental Health association.

“One in four Canadians will experience a mental health issue in their lifetime, but a lot of Canadians still don't feel comfortable talking about mental health,” says Katherine Palumbo with C.M.H.A.

Dan Michaelsky started the March Mullet Program in Barrie last year when he asked a few friends for their support.

“Would they donate money if i cut my hair into a mullet and they said yes--so i asked my family and they said yes too,” said Michaelsky.

Nicole Kastelik says it's not just for the boys. “i would only do it for mental health and for kids,” says Kastelik who has raised almost $3000 for mental health.

So far this month the March Mullet Program has raised more than $7,000.
