Freezing rain warning issued for parts of the region

The spring thaw is going to freeze-up this weekend, with freezing rain in the forecast.

Freezing rain is expected to develop Sunday morning and continue well into the afternoon. Temperatures will slowly rise through the afternoon, which will change the freezing rain into rain by Sunday evening.

A snow squall warning is in effect for:

·         Barrie - Collingwood - Hillsdale

·         Midland - Coldwater - Orr Lake

·         Orillia - Lagoon City – Washago

·         Innisfil - New Tecumseth - Angus

·         Orangeville – Grand Valley – Southern Dufferin County

·         Shelburne - Mansfield – Northern Dufferin County

·         Owen Sound - Blue Mountains - Northern Grey County

·         Hanover - Dundalk - Southern Grey County

·         Newmarket - Georgina - Northern York Region

·         Uxbridge - Beaverton - Northern Durham Region

 

People out driving and walking are advised to take extra care, and to slow down in slippery conditions.
