The Ontario Fire Marshal’s office is investigating after an early-morning fire gutted an Innisfil restaurant.

Jeff Post with the OFM says the fire started at about 2 a.m. at Bistro on the Lake in Innisfil. It took crews about five hours to put out the last of the hot spots.

“At this point the office of the fire marshal was brought in to assist with trying to determine the origin and the cause of the fire,” he says.

Post says investigators today are contending with the elements, and adds there was “a lot of water put on the property and that’s frozen since the fire was extinguished, so we’re dealing with that.”

He says there has also been a lot of damage to the roof of the building.

The investigation is in its early stages, and right now they’re trying to find out where the fire started.

“From there, we’ll work at trying to determine what happened and why it happened,” Post says.

No one was injured in the fire.
