'Felt like a big earthquake': Car crashes into Wasaga Beach home
A driver is facing impaired driving charges after a car crashed into a house in Wasaga Beach over the weekend.
James Cook was in the house with his kids when the car crashed into the side of a home on Dyer Drive on Sunday, just after 4 p.m.
“It felt like a big earthquake actually. I have never felt anything like that in my life,” Cook says. “I just heard a screech and then the whole house just shook.”
The crash sent debris flying across the lawn of the home.
“Three minutes away and my daughters could have been under that car. They were sitting in the green chair sitting there
A witness describes seeing the car drive over a lawn, jumping a curb and striking the house.
A male passenger in the car was injured. The 18-year-old driver, a Wasaga Beach woman, has been charged with impaired driving.
The family has insurance, but will have to wait for an engineer to give the all clear before they can return home.
The accused will appear in court next month.
