An electric kettle is getting the blame for a fire at an apartment complex in Barrie last week.
Barrie fire crews were called to the four-storey building on Blake Street on Friday after a homeowner heard the smoke alarm going off.
Investigators say at that point flames had spread from an electric kettle in the kitchen to the cupboards. About 30 people had to evacuate the complex.
Firefighters were able to knock the fire down, but not before it caused $400,000 in damage.
The majority of residents have returned to their homes.
