Arrest warrant issued in 'targeted' Newmarket shooting: YRP

York Regional Police issued an arrest warrant for a man wanted in connection with a shooting in Newmarket.

According to police, shots were fired at a home in the area of College Manor Drive and Greig Circle around 4:15 a.m. on Sunday.

Police say officers found multiple shell casings in front of the residence, and that the house and a vehicle parked in the driveway sustained damage.

A white hatchback was reportedly seen fleeing the area.

While no injuries were reported, police say the house was occupied at the time.

They believe the incident was targeted.

Police say 35-year-old Winston Vernon from Aurora is wanted on multiple charges, including uttering threats, assault with a weapon, pointing a firearm, mischief to property, unauthorized possession of a firearm, and court-related offences.

Investigators are appealing for video surveillance of the area at the time of the incident. Anyone who can help with the investigation is urged to contact the authorities.
