A pedestrian is in critical condition after officials say she was struck while crossing a Midland street.

Fire Chief Richard Renaud said the woman was hit by a car travelling northbound on King Street early Wednesday afternoon.

Paramedics said the 70-year-old woman was taken to a local hospital.

Police closed the area between Galloway Boulevard and Robert Street for the investigation.

Renaud urges motorists to “drive according to road conditions and be aware of increased pedestrian traffic on sidewalks and roadways during this stretch of mild weather.”
