Driver charged after crashing into school bus

A 31-year-old was charged after police say the driver crashed into a school bus that was stopped for another bus with its lights flashing in Meaford.

Provincial police say the incident happened on Monday shortly after 8 a.m. as officers were patrolling Highway 26 near Clearview Crescent.

Police say the vehicle collided with the rear of the school bus.

No injuries were reported.

The accused, from Meaford, was charged with careless driving.

Police remind motorists to watch for flashing amber lights indicating a school bus is making a stop to pick up or drop off students.

They also say to slow down when a school bus activates its flashing red lights, and to stay put behind a bus until the lights and stop sign are deactivated or the bus starts to move.
