The results are in from a commercial motor vehicle safety blitz provincial police conducted earlier this week and include a dozen vehicles taken off the roads.

Ontario Provincial Police officers partnered with Peel, Halton and York Regional police, the Town of Caledon, bylaw, and the Ministry of Transportation for the safety inspection blitz on Monday.

Officers on patrol identified and escorted vehicles to the inspection site, where 75 vehicles were checked over for violations.

Police say 72 charges were laid, and noted having found insecure loads, broken trailer brakes and linings, broken frame and steering mechanisms, tire issues, and loose suspension attachments.

Provincial police say several of the drivers were also found to either be unlicensed or suspended from driving.
