A debate in Tiny Township on Monday night focused on when people can and can't hunt.

Dozens were in attendance to weigh in on a debate on whether gun hunting should be allowed on Sundays.

“Most hunters are working folks and hunting seasons are most prevalent in the fall,” one man said at the meeting. “The lack of day light after work and after school restricts us to Saturday hunting only.”

The crowd spilled out of the council chambers and many people showed up in their hunting gear.

“Despite wearing bright clothing the possibility of being mistake for an animal does exists and it's quiet freighting,” one woman said.

Residents and trail users argued that gun hunting poses a safety risk, while they're out on the trials, but hunters called that fearmongering.

Both sides argued that Sunday is the only day they have to participate in outdoor activities.

More than 160 communities across southern Ontario do allow gun hunting on Sundays.

Tiny Township council is expected to debate the issue and make a decision at its next meeting on Dec.  14.
