For the seventh straight day, snow squall hammered part of region on Friday.

Warnings were issued for Simcoe County, Muskoka and Grey County – forcing OPP to close roads in Wasaga Beach, Owen Sound and Huntsville.

The squall rolled in Friday morning just as Environment Canada predicted, forcing school bus cancellation in Grey – Bruce, Muskoka and Simcoe County.

Friday was the third day of bus cancellations this week for Nottawa Elementary School. Principal Troy Comish says it’s hard to gauge cancellations in the area as squalls are so unpredictable.

“Our biggest concern is for the safety of our students and parents, often it’s a great morning but things may roll in the afternoon and our buses aren’t able to make it out in the afternoon and having students here at night is not a safe thing.”

Deserted hallways and empty classrooms, teacher Curtis Morin says you have to adjust for snow days but his students are still getting their assignments online.

“If not all the students are here it makes it difficult to teach but now with technology it makes it a lot easier. I can still access kids and they still have all that information at home, they still get their work done.”
