If you see an increase in the number of military aircraft in the sky this week, don’t be alarmed.

Members of the Royal Canadian Air Force are conducting a search and rescue exercise throughout Barrie and Orillia.

In a statement, RCAF says residents in the area can expect to see an increase in aircraft activity. During the exercise, search and rescue technicians will be parachuting from Hercules aircraft, while Griffon helicopter operators conduct hoist training.

The purpose of the exercise is to simulate a realistic training exercise for SAR personnel.

The exercise wraps up on Thursday.
