A 26-year-old Richmond Hill man is facing stunt driving and speeding charges after police say he was clocked going more than 170 km/h on Highway 400 Tuesday night.

Barrie Police say an unmarked cruiser was driving southbound on Highway 400 around 11:30 p.m. when it was passed by a silver SUV.

The officer began to follow the vehicle and registered its speed at more than 170 km/h on his radar.

The vehicle was stopped south of Innisfil Beach Road.

The driver has been charged with stunt driving and speeding. He also had his vehicle impounded for seven days and his licence suspended for seven days.
