Emergency protocol was put into action after torrential rain washed out part of an enclosure housing coyote pups.

Temporary netting was put up to ensure that none of the eight orphaned coyote pups escaped or were injured.

Some roads, including one used to transport food and water to orphaned deer fawns, were also washed out.

Staff and volunteers are carrying the food and water to the deer until the roads are repaired.

The Sanctuary is asking the public to help with donations to help cover the repairs needed.

“We are in need of gravel and large culverts to repair the roads as well as people to help with the repairs to the coyote enclosure and other facilities,” said Aspen Valley’s board chair Julie Woodyer. “We hope the public will help out by donating materials and funding as well as their time to help the sanctuary make the necessary repairs as quickly as possible.”
