An Orillia family may be out of their home for up to a week after a fire broke out in a garage early Saturday morning.

The fire broke out just before 6:30 a.m. Saturday morning at a home on Charles Road.

Orillia Fire Chief Ralph Dominelli tells CTV News when fire crews arrived - the garage was engulfed in flames. He says a man, woman and their daughter who were renting the home were able to get out safe.

Crews were able to keep the fire from spreading to the house but the home did suffer some smoke and heat damage.

Dominelli told CTV News on Sunday that family will be out of their home until everything is cleaned up which could take a week.

There is still no word on the cause but damage is estimated at $40,000.
