Thousands of people who were planning to take in BikeFest in Midland this weekend will have to make other plans.

The motorcycle rally and concert have been cancelled.

The decision to pull the plug on the event came just before 6 p.m. last night just before Tom Cochrane and David Usher were going to take to the stage.

Instead, crews began packing up that stage. Organizers are not offering up a reason for the cancellation, only saying the event was “cancelled due to extenuating circumstances that were beyond repair” on its website. The organizers say refunds can be arranged through the contact page on the website.

There has been some positive news to come from the cancellation. The Guest House Shelter at Knox Presbyterian Church received food that was to be served up at the concert. The shelter serves up a hot meal every night.
