Communities in Muskoka didn't have to deal with too many power outages, though they were still hit by the same storm.

There, residents are dealing with both ice and snow, however.

There are about three weeks’ worth of snow piled up on Rhonda Brockington's car. It has stayed put in the driveway since the snow started falling in Gravenhurst earlier this month; a driveway Brockington has shovelled too many times to count.

“It has been snowing everyday there have been days when I shovel two to three times a day just to keep up so it's not overwhelming,” she says.

Down the street Mike Barnes is busy doing what he does every day.

“I've been out for a week steady doing my driveway and my neighbours' to help them out,” he says.

It's been cold enough in Muskoka that snow fell overnight rather than freezing rain. But a light drizzle this morning turned snow crunchy and roads icy.

“We had snow removal on Friday and that was great but now the snow banks are back,” says Gravenhurst shop-owner Kelly McBride. “We're just back to where we were. But that's winter in Muskoka.”

McBride hopes that once this storm clears, and once people realize time to finish their shopping is quickly running out, things will pick up.

“I think tomorrow is going to be very busy with people running around.”

And with Christmas just around the corner, there's at least a bright side to all this snow – it looks like a winter wonderland that will very likely mean a white Christmas in Muskoka.
