York Regional Police say a man has been rescued after falling through the ice on Lake Simcoe.
Police say firefighters from the Georgina Fire Department were able to pull the man from the icy waters about 50 metres off Snake Island.
The man, reported to be in his 70s, was treated at the scene by paramedics.
Police say that despite the recent cold weather, ice conditions are still unpredictable and potentially dangerous around waterways.
So far this season there have been multiple incidents reported where people and vehicles have fallen through the ice.
And police say the recent changes in weather have altered the conditions of the ice, making it unpredictable, inconsistent and potentially hazardous.
