The hockey arena at the Centennial Centre in Gravenhurst will be formally named after sledge hockey legend Graeme Murray.

The Gravenhurst native was a member of Canada's bronze medal winning team at  the Paralympic Games in Sochi.

Murray began playing for Canada’s National sledge hockey team when he was only 15 years old. In 2002, he was the youngest player on Team Canada at the Paralympic Games in Salt Lake City.

Mayor Paisley Donaldson made the announcement during this week’s council meeting.

A special dedication ceremony will be held on Saturday September 20th at the Centennial Centre.
