A 30 acre grass fire in Oro-Medonte was sparked when flames from a controlled burn jumped to a hay field.

The fire broke out in a field in the area of Old Barrie Road and 14th Line on Tuesday afternoon.

Investigators say flames from a controlled burn jumped a fence and moved into a neigbouring hay field after a strong wind pushed through the area.

About 30 firefighters were on the scene for more than four hours putting out hot spots. Water had to be trucked in.

No injuries are reported.
