Police say a man who rolled his car in Innisfil on Sunday registered three times the legal blood alcohol limit with his daughter in the car.

South Simcoe Police officers were called to 10 Sideroad near 2nd Line in Innsifil on Sunday for the rollover crash. When officers arrived, they found the car on its roof in a ditch – the driver and his 8-year-old daughter were able to escape the crash without being injured.

Police say the driver took a breathalyzer test and registered almost three times the legal blood alcohol limit. He was arrested and charged with impaired driving and driving over 80 milligrams

"The implications of impaired driving go far beyond an arrest", said deputy chief Andrew Fletcher in a statement. "This girl could have been seriously injured or even killed, all because her father made the decision to get behind the wheel while impaired."

The driver has had his licence suspended for 90 days. He will also be required to have an ignition interlock device installed on his car.

The Children’s Aid Society is also investigating.
