The Ontario SPCA is asking for the public’s help after puppies were found dumped in a garbage bag in a Midland ditch.

Eight puppies, believed to be a Lab-Shepherd mix, were found by a resident doing yard work on Oct. 14 in the area of Baseline Road South.

The dogs, estimated to be between three and five-days-old, still had their umbilical cord attached.

The puppies were rushed to the Ontario SPCA Midland & District Animal Centre, but four of the dogs died. The surviving puppies are being nursed back to health.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the OSPCA at 1-888-668-7722.
