A cyclist has died after being struck by a vehicle in Vaughan on Saturday morning.

The cyclist was biking along Dufferin Street, just north of Major MacKenzie Drive at around 4:40 a.m. According to York Regional Police, this is when the cyclist was struck by a vehicle.

The cyclist was pronounced dead at the scene, despite the efforts by emergency crews to revive the man. An autopsy has since been ordered to determine an exact cause of death.

Dufferin Street between Major MacKenzie and Teston Road was closed for several hours, while the York Regional Police major collision investigation bureau probed the scene. The road has since reopened.

It’s unclear if charges will be laid.
