Seven people were taken to hospital after a multi-vehicle crash just south of Owen Sound.

The three vehicle crash happened on Highway 6 & 10, near Rockford in the Township of Georgian Bluffs on Sunday, at around 4:38 p.m.

According to OPP, a Jeep was travelling north on the highway when it crossed the centre line, clipping a southbound Volkswagen vehicle and colliding head-on with a Mercedes. As a result of the head-on crash, the jeep caught fire.

A 17-year-old girl from Chatsworth, who was a passenger in the Jeep, and a 32-year-old woman, who was a passenger in the Mercedes, were airlifted to a London hospital with serious injuries. Five others were taken to a local hospital with minor injuries and have since been released.

An 18-year-old from Owen Sound has been charged with careless driving.
