Two new American stores, including Target, have announced they are planning to open at Park Place in Barrie in 2014.

Currently Park Place has 250,000 square feet of retail space in use – that will jump to more than half a million by this time next year.

Park Place developer CentreCorp managing partner Terry Coughlin says Target purchased over nine acres for $6 million. He says they plan to build 127,000 square foot store with construction beginning in September with a goal of the store opening in August of 2014.

Cabela, which sells hunting, fishing and outdoor gear, also released plans on Thursday for construction of a new 70,000 square foot store that will begin this summer at Park Place.

Crews are currently constructing a 45,000 square foot LA Fitness club set to open in November.

And just weeks ago, Panera Breads opened up at Park Place and room is being made for an Il Fornello, an upscale Italian restaurant.

When it is all said and done, Park Place will be more than two million square feet and cost more than $300 million to build.
