There will not be a byelection in Wasaga Beach to fill a vacant council seat.
At a special meeting on Tuesday, council decided it will put out a call for applicants for the seat, which was vacated by councillor Ron Anderson.
That means the job will be advertised, then the town clerk will draw up rules to determine how the successful candidate will be chosen.
The town hopes to have the new councillor in place by June 28.
Anderson resigned last month, saying he was not happy with how council was handling decisions surrounding the leases of beachfront properties, which are now owned by the town.
The town figures this process will cost about $1,500 compared to the estimated $95,000 cost of a byelection.
