A police officer from Wasaga Beach, who was convicted of breach of trust, will not be sentenced until September.
OPP Const. Kara Darnley, who is eight months pregnant, was in court on Wednesday for sentencing but the judge decided to delay it.
Last April, Darnley, who has been dubbed the “hot cop,” was found guilty of breach of trust for copying confidential police documents.
Her lawyer insists Darnley was tricked by her own employers, who planted the fake documents about her fiance over concerns that he was involved in drugs.
It was a so-called "integrity play" to see if Darnley would take the bait.
The Crown wanted Darnley sent to jail and was even talking about having the Children’s Aid Society step in if Darnley couldn't make arrangements for the baby.
Prosecutors argued that there should be a more severe sentence since Darnley is a police officer and should be held to a higher standard.
However, Justice Susan Healey said she was troubled by this case. She said there's no evidence that Darnley committed the breach of trust for personal gain.
Darnley was dubbed the "hot cop" while a participant on the game show "Wipeout."
Healey decided to delay sentencing to Sept. 14.
