If would like to see the statue of David, catch a glimpse of the Sasquatch, or even take short trip to Easter Island – you don’t have to go far, only to Brechin.
Brechin Artifacts has been making all types of concrete statues for the garden around since 2002. And business has been growing since the doors opened.
“We just found that we were so busy, we had regular jobs as painters and we just were so busy on Saturday’s and Sunday’s that we gave up the painting and opened full time,” said Peter Perciballi of Brechin Artifacts.
They have hundreds of statues, almost anything you can think of. And if you don’t see what you are looking for, they can make one – even from a photo.
“We would have to carve a negative, we would carve it out of clay, then wrap it in rubber and fiberglass and make a mold out of it,” says Perciballi.
His wife, Jackie, then paints the statues. Each one is painted five times to make them look as real as possible.
“What I love about our store, our business, our customers is that I get to help them create that little oasis in their own gardens,” said Jackie Bryer.
People come from all over and are amazed by the level of craftsmanship.
“Even from far away you can see there is a lot of detail in it and you can tell what it is so I wanted to check it out,” said Norwood resident Javanna Godin-Swereda.
At the height of the summer season, Brechin Artifacts will sell dozens of statues in a day and they range from $5 to $2200. They even offer delivery.
