Provincial police are pleading with snowmobilers to stay off the ice after a sled plunged into a lake in Tiny Township.

Emergency crews responded to Farlain Lake off of Concession Road 17 East Sunday afternoon after a sled broke through the ice.

First responders were able to pull the rider, a 60 year old man, back to shore by using a rope, police said.

He was taken to hospital to be treated for hypothermia.

Some trails in the Wasaga Beach and Collingwood areas are open but most trails across the region remain closed.
