It’s time for the city to get rid of those snowbanks, and crews are set to hit the roads on several Barrie streets this weekend.

The city will remove snow starting at 10 p.m. on Dec. 29 on 14 streets in the downtown area.

They are:

  • Sophia Street East
  • Fred Grant Street
  • MacDonald Street
  • Poyntz Street
  • Worsley Street
  • Mulcaster Street
  • Collier Street
  • Owen Street
  • Dunlop Street
  • Clapperton Street
  • Chase McEachern Way
  • Simcoe Street
  • Codrington Street
  • Bayfield Street

The city asks that all cars are removed from metered parking after 6 p.m. Sunday, warning they’ll be ticketed and towed if not removed.

Barrie police will be working with the city on detours and road closures, and residents will have to speak to police on-site if they need to access a street that’s closed.

The city says snow removal operations are essential and make it safer for residents and emergency vehicles.
