Snowmobiler seriously injured in Saturday crash
A snowmobiler reportedly suffered serious injuries after losing control on a trail in Tay Township Saturday afternoon.
In a social media post on Saturday, Southern Georgian Bay OPP stated that the crash occurred around 4 p.m. in the area of trail #309, which runs along Elliott Sideroad between Rumney Road and Reeves Road.
In a Sunday media release, police confirmed that the incident was indeed a single-snowmobile collision at the Rumney Road and Elliott Sideroad intersection, and that responding officers located the operator with serious injuries.
The injured operator was tended to by Simcoe County Paramedics Services and Tay Township Fire according to police. They were later transported to a local hospital and then a Toronto-area hospital.
No charges were laid but OPP are continuing to investigate the collision.

The area was closed for several hours but reopened around 8 p.m. Saturday evening according to police.

Riders are urged to verify the OFSC’s Interactive Trail Guide for trail availability, to wear all of the required safety equipment, to bring a fully charged cell phone, and to inform a family member of their trip.
