OPP have filed charges against a Severn Township man after they say he chatted online with a young girl in the United States.

Orillia officers say the 34-year-old was chatting with an 11-year-old girl in Maryland on an online chat line for kids. Her mother monitored her activity on the site. The man allegedly sent inappropriate messages and images, so her mother contacted local police who then contacted the OPP.

The OPP Child Sexual Exploitation Unit and the Technological Crime Unit went to the man’s home yesterday with a search warrant and arrested him there.

The 34-year-old man has been charged with luring a person under 16 years old, indecent exposure to a person under 16, and make sexually explicit material available to a person under 16.
