Active shooter investigation underway in Barrie's north end, immediate area evacuated
Police have evacuated an area in Barrie’s north end on Tuesday after reports of an active shooter in a mobile home.
Officers are investigating and have blocked a significant area of Bayfield Street near Heather Street.
Barrie police posted a tweet on Tuesday just past noon, after they received information about a possible firearm in a vehicle in a parking lot on Bayfield Street.

Officials told CTV News that at least one gunshot was fired.
Tactical vehicles rammed a white RV located in a parking lot, and police tell CTV News the suspect is barricaded inside.
Workers at nearby businesses say the RV has been in the parking lot for at least a month.

Crisis negotiators have been called to the scene, and officials say contact has been made with the person in the vehicle.
No injuries have been reported.
Officials are asking the public to avoid the area to allow the investigation to proceed.
A hold and secure implemented at Cundles Heights Public School is being lifted by police.
“At this time, students who live in the areas affected by the evacuation will not be released until a parent or guardian arrives to pick them up,” the police service noted.
The impacted areas include Chestnut Court, Rosedale Place, Aspen Drive, and portions of Springdale Drive and Farmingdale Crescent.
