A pair from Barrie has been charged after police say they stole a car from an Esso gas station.
Barrie police were notified about the car theft from the gas station at Anne Street and Dunlop Street on Saturday, around 4 p.m.
While heading to the scene, police say they found the car; witnessed the driver abandoning it and fleeing the scene. A 47-year-old woman, who was a passenger in the car, was arrested.
The fleeing driver left his wallet in the car and was located a short time later. Police say the man wasn’t very cooperative and was warned that he would be tasered if he didn’t listen.
Eventually the man was arrested without the Taser being used. The two have been charged with possession of stolen property. The 50-year-old man is also charged with stealing a car and breaching recognizance.
Both will appear in court at a future date.
