Provincial police say they are investigating a concern of a threat made near a Gravenhurst high school on Tuesday that resulted in officers initiating hold and secure measures.

Police say the administrative team at Gravenhurst High School reported that several young people attended the property near Sharpe Street and “got into a conflict with students, and made threats, referencing a weapon.”

As a result of the alleged threat, police placed both the high school and nearby Gravenhurst Public School in a hold and secure to ensure no one entered or exited either facility while the investigation was underway.

During a hold and secure, students and staff continue their school day indoors as usual.

Police say the people involved in the incident were identified and located, and confirmed the young people were not in possession of any weapons.

The safety measure at the elementary and secondary schools was lifted prior to the end of the school day.
