Innisfil's Fire Chief says the fire that destroyed a crematorium in Innisfil earlier this week started in the chimney.

Around 6:00 a.m. on December 24, 2014 fire destroyed the Innisvale Crematorium, causing $2 million in damages.

On Friday, crews from the Ontario Fire Marshal’s Office and Innisfil Fire spent the day investigating the fire.

Innisfil Fire Chief Jon Pegg tells CTV News that the investigation wrapped up shortly after 2:00 p.m. and a chimney fire was to blame.

Innisvale Crematorium G.M. Nicole McNaughtontells CTV News there were 14 bodies inside the home at the time of the fire and all have been moved off to another crematorium for cremation. McNaughton also says their cemetery is open for people to visit their loved ones.
