Residents in Barrie took it to social media after spotting a heavy police presence in different parts of the city’s west end.

On Saturday morning, Barrie police officers on general patrol spotted a vehicle being driven “erratically” by a suspected impaired driver.

According to police, several attempts were made to stop the vehicle “as it continued to be operated dangerously.”

Police say the vehicle crashed into one vehicle at Essa Road and Innisfil Street and then hit a marked Barrie police cruiser at Cityview Circle and Ferndale Drive South.

Officers later found the vehicle in a parking lot.

Members of the tactical team and detectives with the Criminal Investigation Unit showed up at a home in the Essa Road and Loggers Run area and arrested a 27-year-old woman.

Police say she is facing several charges, including drug possession, and was wanted on an outstanding warrant.
