Share

One person has died in a collision involving a dump truck south of Beaverton Monday afternoon.

Debris scattered across Highway 48 after police say a pickup truck drifted into the path of a dump truck between Concession Road 14 and 17 Sideroad in Brock Township.

“This head-on collision resulted in the dump truck rolling over, it was loaded with gravel,” said OPP Sgt. Kerry Schmidt in a video posted to social media.

A 56-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police say the dump truck driver was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

"Cleanup and the investigation is ongoing," Schmidt said. "There is no indication the weather - environmental conditions - were a significant contributing factor."

Police ask witnesses or anyone with dash camera footage to contact them.
