Long-time cottagers and now permanent Huntsville residents, Chris and George Gilley have made a generous donation to the Huntsville Hospital Foundation.

The Gilley’s announced a $250, 000 donation earmarked for the chemotherapy clinic.

When asked why they made the donation, the couple spoke of their love for the community and paying forward their good fortune in life. It has been their dream to make a significant donation to the Huntsville Hospital Foundation base on the great care they’ve received over the years.

“The money provided will make it possible to continue to treat cancer patients locally in a safe, efficient and high-quality environment.," said Muskoka Algonquin Health Care’s Director of Pharmacy Danette Beechinor. "The funds will help Muskoka Algonquin Healthcare achieve progressively higher standards for providing cancer care to meet the needs of our communities. We are delivering world class health care, right here in Muskoka.”

The Galley’s have deep ties to Muskoka. Chris’ grandparent’s Stan & Dora English owned the Lone Star restaurant in Minett for numerous years. The couple spent many summers at the family cottage on Little Lake Joe

George, a successful accountant and business owner, was first introduced to Huntsville on a work related trip to Tally Ho, where his love affair with the area began.
