A young man who pleaded guilty to sex crimes against children in the Orillia area was back in court on Friday, as one of his co-accused took the stand.

Avery Taylor began her testimony describing her own sexual encounters with Shayne Lund when she was a teenager. She said the first one was non-consensual.

"He asked, I said ‘no.’ He asked again, I said ‘no,’” Taylor says. “A few minutes later he was on top of me."

Taylor said she continued to spend time with Lund, saying "I was younger and he showed interest in me."

She also spoke of a time when Lund showed an interest in a little girl she was babysitting.

"He wanted to have sex with her, or have her do sexual things to him," she says.

Taylor admitted to allowing Lund in her house, while she babysat the girl, and to letting him play a game with her involving a condom.

She also described an incident at Tudhope Park, when they were swimming with another little girl.

"He tried to penetrate her," Taylor told the court.

The defense tried to question the accuracy of some of Taylor's testimony. When Taylor told the court that Lund sent her pictures of a girl’s underwear drawer, the defence attorney said "the only information you have is what he tells you, and what he shows you through pictures."

Suggesting Taylor didn't see some of these things first hand, but rather just believed what Lund had said.

Lund sat in the prisoner’s box with his head down throughout this entire testimony, only glancing up at Taylor every so often.

The Crown is expected to call a few more witnesses next week.

Once those witnesses speak a sentencing hearing will begin.
