A Wasaga Beach man is celebrating a life-changing lottery win after saying yes to Encore.

Aldo Borettini matched the last six of seven Encore numbers in exact order for the November 30, 2024, Ontario 49 draw, earning him a $100,000 prize.

A dedicated lottery player for more than four decades, the retiree enjoys trying his luck with several lottery games using a mix of quick picks and his own chosen numbers, including his special number three.

Borettini initially believed he had won much less than what he actually had.

"I thought I’d won $10,000 and I was thrilled. That’s when the store clerk confirmed it was actually $100,000. My heart nearly stopped. It was such an emotional and life-altering moment," he said.

After sharing the news with his wife, the couple shed tears of joy.

"At the end of the day, it’s just money, but being a lottery winner, now that’s something I can brag about," he laughed.

Borettini is looking forward to be mortgage-free with this win.

“It covers the balance of my mortgage. I have a feeling this is going to be a really good year,” he said. “This prize is a true blessing.”

The winning ticket was purchased at Shell on County Road 10 in Stayner.

“It’s a fantastic feeling that I will never get over,” Borettini concluded.
