One person has been killed in a plane crash at Huronia Airport.

OPP Sgt. Peter Leon tells CTV News an ultralight plane crashed on landing shortly before 2 p.m. Monday and its 69-year-old pilot is dead. Police aren't identifying the man, but say he is from North Simcoe County.

The Transportation Safety Board has had a look at the plane involved in the fatal crash near Midland yesterday

Investigators tell CTV News today they haven’t been able to determine what caused the ultralight plane to crash at the end of the airport's runway.

What they do know, however, is that the plane had floats and wheels and that it came down nose-wheel first.

There were no witnesses to the crash, but it was another pilot who discovered the scene while he was taxiing out of the airport.
