Drivers enjoying the fall colours could face fines

The vibrant fall colours attract people from all over hoping to get that perfect shot, but police warn that driving significantly slower than the speed limit to check out the changing of the leaves can not only be dangerous, but it could result in charges.

While speeding causes more collisions than slow drivers on average, police say driving too slowly can cause other motorists to become irritable and take unnecessary risks to keep moving.

A steady, legal speed keeps traffic moving and prevents congestion and frustration, police said.

There's no denying this time of year deserves a photo, but police remind motorists to concentrate on the roads rather than the fall colours and to find a safe, legal spot to park to snap pictures, which is not typically along the side of the road.

Driving unnecessarily slowly can carry a $110 fine and two demerit points.
